AARP Rant
A letter I sent to the editor of the AARP Magazine in response to their recent issue profiling Katie Couric:
To Whom It May Concern:
As an over fifty member who expects AARP to represent me, I cannot begin to fathom the logic of having Katie Couric, age 48, representing me or my generation on the cover of your magazine. Ms. Couric may be a talented woman worthy of an interesting profile, but she certainly shouldn’t be featured in a magazine dedicated to those in the second half of their life. I’m perplexed and disappointed by your choice. I look to AARP to reflect issues related to those who are fifty and furthermore. I hope in the future you will consider my comments in your decision about whom to profile in your publication. I look forward to reading about women and men to whom my generation can relate.
Sincerely,
Dorree Lynn, PhD
